The SkyCom™ 622 Mb/s Series is the latest addition to the PAV range of Free Space Optical transmission systems.
This new series is a Fibre Optic System designed to pass SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) at the Optical Carrier transmission rate OC-12 (622 Mb/s), including both STM-4 (SDH), STS-12 (SONET) and
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM).
Employing the proven PAV Free Space Optical technology, used successfully in all PAV systems, the SkyCom™ 622 Mb/s Series has been designed to operate over distances of 20 meters to 500 meters (0.5Km).
Connectivity:
Connection of the SkyCom™ Series is made using Fibre Optical cable, a number of industry standard formats are available both in Single-Mode and Multi-Mode. The industry standard connection types include SC duplex and ST duplex, all other types are available upon request. The industry standard Fibre Optical cable wavelengths include 1300nm as standard, with the option of 1500nm or 850nm upon request.
Configuration:
Due to the unique design of the SkyCom™ 622 Mb/s Series a seamless interconnection of the Optical Carrier transmission is achievable. All attached equipment operates at its full rated bandwidth and no topology changes are required. Also due to the seamless design and interconnection of the system no hardware or software configuration is required.
Security:
By utilising unique advanced error resistant coding within the full range of equipment manufactured, a highly secure connection is achievable which is transparent to RF scanners or spectrum analysers.
Performance:
The system offers an industry accepted performance availability figure which, through field trials and independent laboratory testing, has achieved a continuous operational availability in excess of 99.1% to 99.9% within the UK and worldwide.
All PAV systems have been designed to the highest specifications and offer a bit error rate greater than 10-10 during operational availability.
